The Nurture Forward Foundation (NFF) is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization (NGO) registered in Tanzania. It is founded on the belief that nurturing children, families, and communities through knowledge, early interventions, and public awareness can build a stronger, healthier, and more empowered society. The Foundation serves as an implementation and advocacy arm inspired by the book "Parents Guidance & Personal Care for Children."
NFF aims to: • Promote parenting education and family support services • Improve child health and mental wellness • Support early childhood development through public awareness • Collaborate with ministries, schools, and communities to implement meaningful, sustainable programs in health, education, and social welfare • Empower individuals—especially women, parents, and youth—with self-education (Elimu Binafsi) and meaningful education (Elimu Timilifu) strategies
NFF bridges the gap between knowledge and action by providing tools and programs based on lived experience, academic insight, and community voices. It is rooted in the local context but informed by global standards. Its foundation on the book "Parents Guidance & Personal Care for Children" offers a ready-made curriculum and action framework tailored to Tanzanian communities.
NFF was founded by Adveline Minja, an educator, parenting advocate, and author of "Parents Guidance & Personal Care for Children." Her mission is to offer long-term, culturally grounded solutions to challenges in parenting, child health, and youth development. Through her work, she saw a need to institutionalize these efforts in a structured, sustainable way—hence, the Foundation.
Yes. NFF seeks active collaboration with government ministries, including: • Ministry of Education — in areas of early learning, parenting education, positive discipline, and social-emotional growth • Ministry of Health — in promoting hygiene, nutrition, mental wellness, and child health • Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups — for parenting support, gender equity, and youth-focused programs NFF's programs align with national development goals and sector-specific strategies.
The Foundation is supported through a mix of: • Crowdfunding campaigns and donor appeals • Grants from local and international organizations • Partnerships with government agencies and private sector donors • Contributions from individuals and sponsors who support child development, education, and health NFF is committed to financial transparency and responsible stewardship of all funds.
Self-education (Elimu Binafsi) is the principle of nurturing lifelong learners. NFF encourages both children and adults to take initiative in reading, exploring knowledge, and developing skills beyond the classroom. It is especially relevant in today's world, where access to diverse knowledge empowers communities to challenge misinformation, overcome systemic gaps, and build resilience.
Meaningful education (Elimu Timilifu) combines academic learning with practical life skills, moral development, and community values. NFF programs are designed to be holistic—supporting not only school achievement but also personal responsibility, emotional intelligence, and civic awareness from an early age.
